Concepts and phenomena such as data-driven, metadata, semantic web, and big science point to a process that highlights the importance of managing data, information, and knowledge cycles in institutions, and the professtion associated with them. At the same time, these terms are somehow the product of the development of ICT and their applications in the management of individual and organizational actions.
In this article, the above concepts and phenomena were described in relation to each other and in interaction with some goals and tasks. Success in these areas requires extensive cooperation of individuals and institutions in the management of financial, technical, and human resources. It also needs strategies that requires the cooperation of individuals and institutions, because it is time consuming and costly, and requires different skills and professions. The ICT integrated all of these and and their results. Another purpose of this article is describing the importance of studying information,knowledge and technology management for optimizing the knowledge cycle with emphasis on some well-known examples.
