Journal of Agricultural Information Science and Technology (JAST)

 

 

General requirements

The submitted article must be extensional and related to the subject area of .the JAIST and based on its "Authors' Guide". An extensional article is an article in which the result of a research or scientific experience is written in simple language and short sentences. In an extensional article, one should not use very specialized terms, as much as possible, and avoid the specialized description of executive processes and research methods. The submitted article must not have been published in any domestic or foreign journals. Also, the article should not have been sent to other journals in parallel.

 

JAIST Subject Area

The aim of the JAIST is to create a suitable stand for the extension of knowledge in the field of agricultural science and information. That is, the JAIST publish articles in the field of application of information and science, and information and communication technologies in .agriculture. JAIST aims to promote the research findings of librarians, researchers and informants affiliated to AREEO and other related specialists throughout the country. The emphasis of the JAIST is on receiving and publishing works that are the result of original research or in-depth case studies in subject related fields and presenting them in the form of extensional articles. Extensional article means an article that, although it can be the result of original research in the related field, but its purpose is to convey the achievement and results in a non-specialist language. Based on this, authors and researchers who wish to submit their articles are requested to send us new topics and non-repetitive extensional works in JAIST subject fields. Theoretical and review articles will also be acceptable if they are original and have an analytical-extensional approach. In general, this journal publishes articles written in the following four general areas:

  1. Agricultural Scientometrics and webometrics
  • Introducing and promoting methods and tools for organizing, storing, retrieving and accessing agricultural information;
  • Familiarity with the new topics of scientometrics and webometrics and their applications in the field of agriculture;
  • Introducing emerging methods and approaches in the field of information science and agricultural information technology.
  1. Application of information and communication technologies in the field of agriculture
  • Introduction of management information systems and information technology in agricultural applications;
  • Application of information and communication technology in the production of agricultural products.
  1. Management of agricultural libraries and information centers
  • Transferring knowledge and skills of using national and international citation and information databases;
  • Introducing national and international information systems in the field of agriculture;
  • Familiarity with national and international social media in order to promote agricultural knowledge and develop relationships between researchers in the agricultural field.
  1. Smart agriculture
  • Application of new information technologies in the process of planting, growing and harvesting agricultural products;
  • Application of information and communication technologies in the cycle of production and distribution of products to increase agricultural productivity.

 

How to submit an article

It is possible to submit an article to the JAIST after registering through the journal website at http://jaist.areeo.ac.ir.

 

Extensional article structure

An extensional article should be prepared in a maximum of 10 pages. The different parts of an extensional article are as follows:

Title: should be short, concise and appropriate to the content, purpose and findings of the article. Do not choose long titles as much as possible. The title should be in a phrase or news format and as short as possible. The title should specify exactly the content of the extensional article and avoid choosing literary titles unrelated to the main content of the article. The title should be adjusted center. Chose B Titr 14 Bold for typing article title.

Author (s) specification: first write the name and then the last name of the author (s) consecutively, in one line and right-aligned. Put a comma between the names of the authors. Use B zar 11 Bold to write down the author's name.

Write the author's affiliation under the author's name and on a separate line. If there is more than one author, number the authors first. Then bring the affiliation of each author with the corresponding number under the author’s line and each in a separate line. Use B zar 10 italic to type the affiliation. The method of presenting the scientific rank, organizational affiliation and email address of each author will be based on the “author's name insertion method” approved by the Agricultural Research, Education and Extension Organization (AREEO).

Abstract: A short summary of the topic of the article and its findings should be provided. The abstract should present the purpose, subject field of the research, community and data collection tools and the most important finding and extensional results of the research in a simple and concise language and in a maximum of 150 words. The entire abstract should be presented in one paragraph. To present the abstract, first, write the word Abstract in an independent line in B Zar 12 Bold. Then, write the text of the abstract from the next line in B Zar 11 Italic.

The title of the article, the name of the author(s), affiliation and abstract in English should be presented at the end of the article and on a separate page. Write the English title in centerline and in a separate line with Times New Roman 14 Bold. Write the author's name in English in a separate line and in Times New Roman 10 Bold. Provide the authors' affiliation in English in Times New Roman 9 italics. To write down the name of multiple authors in English, follow the way of writing the name and affiliation in Farsi.

Keywords: Should be appropriate to the title and content of the article and between 4 and 7 keywords. Put a comma between each word. Do not use combined and multi-word keywords. First, write the keywords: in a separate line in B ZAR 10 Bold. Then, in front of it, present the words in B Zar 11. In the English abstract section at the end of the article, write Keywords: in Times New Roman 10 Bold and in front of that present the words in Times New Roman 11 italic.

Body of the article: The body of the extensional article consists of 3 parts as follows. It is necessary to remember that based on the topic of the article, the title of the sections can be changed or the number of sections can be increased or decreased. But it should be noted that the number of main sections of the article should not exceed 5. But each section of the article, especially the achievement section, can itself be divided into subsections. Also, extensional-analytical articles that are the result of in-depth study on the subject of the article, may have arranged other than those mentioned here. Write the text of the article (all three parts) in B Zar 13. Put each heading or sub-heading in an independent line without putting a colon in front of it. Provide the main heading of the article in B Zar 12 Bold and subheadings in B Zar 10 Bold. Try not to include another subheading in the subheading.

Introduction: In this section, which is accompanied by the statement of the topic and state of problem, it starts with an introduction about the topic description. Then, briefly explain the history and position of the under investigation topic. Here, in the way of background research, each background should not be presented separately and in separate paragraphs. It should be present a combine result of all research finding. In other words, the process of researches and their findings should be categorized in a relevant subject. That is, it should be pointed out what actions have been taken so far in the subject area and what is the position of this article and its extensional achievement among other achievements. Then, the main topic of the article should be stated. In the following, it should be mentioned in general and without referring to the details of the process, the investigated community, research method and the method of data collection. The research question can be presented here in brief. Writing should be coherence, clear and in fluently expression.

Achievement: In this section, the findings or achievements of the article are presented along with related discussions and explanations. Achievement is the result obtained as a result of extensional research and can have a practical aspect. In other words, the achievement section is a combination of the "findings" and "discussion" sections in a research article, which is presented in a simpler and more fluent language. It is necessary to avoid providing additional explanations, or providing materials unrelated to the topic and questions of article, or providing many tables and charts. The text should present what is the result of research or extensional achievement in short and understandable sentences. The emphasis of the text should be on the subject of achievement and efforts should be made to describe the achievement and its results. Based on the questions or achievement, the achievement section can be divided into several subheadings. These subheadings should be short, concise and topical. They can be extracted from the research questions. The achievements can be presented with few tables or graphs.

The text of the tables or graphs should be presented in B Zar 10, and their titles should be presented in B Zar 9 Bold. The title of the tables should be mentioned at the top of the table and the title of other display tools should be mentioned at the bottom. In case of presenting graphs or tables, it should be avoided to present a lot of graphs or tables. Each diagram or table or photo must have an independent title and numbering. Any kind of display tool like photos, graphs, or tables should be separately numbering and precede the number with the type of presentation tool. Put a period after the number. For example: Photo 1, Table 1. Under each table or graph, the most important information and its achievements should be discussed, and explanations, discussions and interpretations should also be provided along with quantitative explanations. In fact, this section is a combination of the findings section and the discussion and conclusion section in research articles.

Recommendations: In this section, based on the achievements and taking into account his experience in the subject, the author provides recommendations or suggestions about the better use of the achievement, its expansion and improvement, or points for applicability or future related research. In fact, this section is somewhat similar to the suggestions section in research papers. But the difference is that in the recommendations section, more emphasis should be placed on the subject of the article or achievements and its further extensions or development. Here is generally one or more recommendations related to the topic. Recommendations are presented in the form of sentences and in one or more paragraphs. It should be avoided to numbering the recommendations.

References: In this section, the list of references used in writing the article should be presented according to APA principles. It should be noted that many references should not be presented and only the main references used should be mentioned. Cite only the references that have been used. First, the list of Persian references and then non-Persian references are written. It is not necessary to consider a separate heading for the list of non-Persian references. The references of this section should not be numbered, but each source should be presented in alphabetical order of the authors.

First, write the word References in a separate line in B Zar 12 Bold. Then, bring the bibliographic information of each reference according to the IPA principles and in a separate line in B zar 12. Continued lines should be presented in another line with a half-centimeter indentation. Present English references in Times New Roman 12.

In-text citations and the list of references used in the article should be present based on the IPA guidelines.
