Participation of the Agricultural Research, Education and Extension Organization' researchers in the scientific social network, ResearchGate

Abstract

ResearchGate has the largest number of members and audiences among the scientific social networks. In order to investigate the level of participation and scientific activity, all 852 researchers' member of this network in the research institutes, national and provincial research centers affiliated to the Agricultural Research, Education and Extension Organization (AREEO), were subjected to study. Relevant data were obtained from the AREEO's scientometric database until 2019, as well as the altmetric data from their research activities in the ResearchGate network. The results showed that nearly one quarter of the organization's researchers are members of the ResearchGate network and their scientific activity has increased as their scientific rank. In this way, the participation of the researchers in scientific social networks will make increasing in their scientific activity and today knowledge access. This will result in additive productivity in the activities of the subsidiaries of the Agricultural Research, Education and Extension Organization.
